Hello JHS Community,
My name is Laura Pierce-Cummings and I am the principal of JHS. I am truly excited to be here in Jefferson! This is my 30th year in education….time does fly by. To name a few places, I have taught in Lithuania as a Peace Corps volunteer, in New Jersey as a language arts teacher, and in Salem-Keizer as an instructional coach. Prior to coming to Jefferson, I led a program for high school students who were new to the United States and just beginning to learn English.
I absolutely love meeting and working with students, families and other educators. I am dedicated and committed to supporting our staff and students, working with families and community, and to call Jefferson my work home. I am proud to be part of the Jefferson High School team!
Mr. Lieuallen is starting his 28th year in education, all of which have transpired in Western Oregon. Graduating from Pacific University in 1997, he began his career as a high school science teacher and head wrestling coach at Westview High School. In 2003 he accepted the position of Assistant Principal at McNary High School and in 2016 became the Principal at Silverton High School. For the past 6 years he has fulfilled multiple positions for the Willamette ESD including Coordinator and Interim-Director of School Improvement Services, Interim-Principal of William Lord High School and for the past year and a half has been acting as a Coordinator for the Willamette Career Academy where he's had the much-appreciated opportunity to work with Jefferson students, parents and staff.
Mr. Lieuallen enjoys spending time with his wife and their three teenage children, taking part in a variety of outdoor activities, watching his kids play sports, and spending time relaxing and connecting with family and friends. He also loves his dogs, is an avid traveler, and enjoys everything farm and ranch. Mr. Lieuallen looks forward to assisting the Jefferson School District in its mission to provide a safe, and comprehensive learning environment dedicated to supporting, empowering, and inspiring student growth and success in a rapidly changing world.
